Handmade quilt by award winning quilter Kathy Brooks Lake. Kathy has won first place ribbons at the Abilene Quilt Show. The first one was for a division that had 38 quilts in it, and the second year was for a division that had 49 quilts in it. This 70 inch x 70 inch quilt is made of 100% cotton and predominantly a dyed fabric known as a batik. Batiks tend to have a higher thread count than a printed or screened fabric and are generally regarded as longer lasting. This quilt was designed to be a utility quilt with the hopes that it would be bring warmth and comfort to those that use it. It is the artist’s request that you “love it to death.” Caring for your quilt so it will last decades is easier than most think. Unless something is spilled on it, or there is an oil accumulation, simply running it through the dryer occasionally to knock out the dust (very acidic) is adequate. When laundering is needed, wash on gentle cycle and dry on low heat. All of the fabric has been pre-washed so shrinkage and bleeding will be minimal. Value approximately $2000.00. Starting bid $475.00 includes shipping.
